How should you commit to communication?
The Communication Commitment has been designed with and
for teachers and senior leadership teams to be user-friendly and
flexible to meet the needs of your school. The site gives you all
the information you need to find the best way for your school to
commit to communication. You're likely already doing a lot to
support your pupils' communication, and the Commitment will help
you review your work and develop a simple strategy for taking it
forward.
You can read more about how the Commitment works below,
and do also see our Commitment Journey
Flowchart and this animated video for
more detail about how to use the site.
There are three steps to the Communication Commitment:

Step 1: Planning
Review what you already do using our audit tool and decide what
you are going to prioritise. Select one of our simple commitments
in each of the five priority areas and generate your school's own
personal Action Plan.
Step 2: Doing and reviewing
We'll give you the information and resources you might need for
each of your actions. You can find ideas and examples from other
schools too. When you have completed your five actions you will be
able to download your Communication Commitment certificate and,
should you want to take things further, move onto Step 3.
Step 3: Taking it further
If you decide you are ready to take your Commitment further, we
will direct you to our expert member organisations, which can offer
a range of support, interventions, professional development,
parental support and direct delivery, including opportunities to
work towards full accreditation for your school.
If you're not quite ready for the
Commitment…
Why not take your first step to your school's commitment by
signing up to
No Pens Day Wednesday to see the difference that a
focus on language and communication can make in school, by putting
down pens for the day to concentrate on speaking and listening.
Other schools have found No Pens Day Wednesday to be a
great experience for everyone in school, with lots of useful
resources, fun activities and innovative ideas.
