The Communication Commitment- An update

What is the Commitment?

The Communication Commitment is a new resource from The Communication Trust, offering a simple way to develop a whole-school approach to communication. It recognises that all schools and pupils are different and helps you on your journey from wherever your own schools starting point is, giving you the help you need to move forward in making communication a part of your schools policy and practice, in the way that works best for your school and pupils.

Through the Communication Commitment site, you will assess where you are already at in terms of embedding communication development across your school. You will then be guided to choose five actions that best suit your school and the needs of your pupils. These will create your personalised Commitment Action Plan that you will be able to print and share with your colleagues, pupils and wider school community. We'll provide lots of free resources and guidance that will help you achieve these actions and you will also have the chance to share ideas with like-minded schools across England.

What's happening with it now?

We are currently in the testing phase for the Commitment and with a prototype site up and running, school professionals and sector experts around the country are working with us to test both the site and the Commitment itself by Trailblazing it in their schools. You can download a one pager on the Communication Commitment here.

How can I get involved?

We know some Local Champions are already involved in this process and we're very grateful for this fantastic input. However, if you're not and would like to be, we'd love to hear from you!

Email Jo Bolton on to find out more and get involved in the consultation and Trailblazing process. We'll fill you in, send you a link to the site and some guidance for feedback.

We hope to be launching the site in late October so this is a really important time for us in testing the prototype out and we'd love to have you on board- looking forward to hearing from you!
